Yahoo Fixes Their IMAP Email System to Prevent WP7 Massive Data Flow
Windows Phone 7 mobile phones transfer a massive amount of data when yahoo mail is browsed from mobile phone. Both Microsoft and Yahoo are working to trace the fault of Yahoo email service. They are also working on the implementation of the IMAP protocols.
You might also be very amazed to know that same problem is also occurs in iPhone too. The difference was that Apple’s IMAP system on the phone wasn’t as susceptible to the Yahoo! error as Windows Phone had been. So everyone is sure about that it is a problem of Yahoo, not Microsoft or Apple.
Now Raphael Rivera of Windows Phone 7 informs us that Yahoo! have finally fixed the IMAP error on their servers. As he wrote-
Microsoft will also have been implementing fixes to ensure that other IMAP email systems won’t be able to cause a data leak on Windows Phone in But we fear that is the same problem triggering data flow in other mobile platforms like Android, Java, Symbian too!

To quickly summarize, whenever a smartphone checked for new Yahoo mail, the server would transmit more information than needed. While not a huge problem on desktops connected to broadband, it was huge in the mobile space. Today, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had upgraded from 0.7.65_12.286037 to 0.7.65_14.298026 fixing the issue.
Microsoft will also have been implementing fixes to ensure that other IMAP email systems won’t be able to cause a data leak on Windows Phone in But we fear that is the same problem triggering data flow in other mobile platforms like Android, Java, Symbian too!
